Zampa Partners, a business advisory firm is seeking to recruit a VAT Director to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for the VAT service line, ensuring alignment with the firm's overall business objectives, growth strategy, and client service standards.
- Oversee the delivery of all VAT compliance and advisory services, ensuring the highest levels of technical excellence, quality assurance, and client satisfaction.
- Lead and develop the VAT team, creating a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and high performance.
- Act as the principal point of contact and trusted advisor for key clients, providing strategic VAT guidance on complex local and international matters.
- Maintain oversight of technically complex VAT advisory projects and compliance engagements, ensuring risks are identified and managed appropriately.
- Monitor developments in local, EU and international VAT legislation and assess their impact on clients, service offerings, and departmental strategy.
- Represent clients in discussions and negotiations with regulatory authorities and other stakeholders where required.
- Drive the growth of the VAT practice by identifying new business opportunities, expanding existing client relationships, and developing new service offerings.
- Collaborate with Partners and Directors across the firm to identify cross-selling opportunities and provide integrated solutions to clients.
- Develop and implement departmental objectives, budgets, performance measures and resource plans to support sustainable growth and profitability.
- Monitor departmental financial performance, including revenue generation, utilisation, recoverability, budgeting and profitability.
- Lead client proposal processes, presentations, and business development meetings to secure new engagements.
- Represent the firm externally through industry events, conferences, seminars, webinars and professional associations.
- Contribute to the firm's thought leadership initiatives through technical publications, articles, training sessions and speaking engagements.
- Support the VAT Partner in shaping and executing the long-term strategic vision for the VAT team and the firm's wider advisory services.
- Promote innovation and continuous improvement within the department, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, service quality and client experience.
Education, Skillsets and Requirements:
- Be in possession of a professional qualification in Accountancy or Law.
- Have a minimum of eight years of relevant VAT experience, including significant experience in a senior leadership or management position.
- Possess extensive knowledge of Maltese VAT legislation, EU VAT Directives, European Court of Justice jurisprudence, and international indirect tax developments.
- Demonstrate strong technical expertise in complex VAT advisory matters, cross-border transactions, VAT structuring, compliance and dispute resolution.
- Have proven experience leading large client portfolios and managing high-value client relationships.
- Demonstrate a strong commercial mindset with a proven track record in business development, client retention and revenue growth.
- Possess excellent leadership, people management and coaching skills, with experience developing and managing high-performing teams.
- Have strong strategic planning, organisational and project management capabilities.
- Be capable of making sound commercial and technical decisions in complex and high-pressure situations.
- Possess excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Have an excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
- Be analytical and solutions-oriented, with a commitment to delivering exceptional client service and maintaining the highest professional standards.
- Demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with other departments to deliver holistic and commercially focused solutions to clients.
